Meet Kelly, our new citizen of the week!

Kelly lives at 34065 Shamrock Drive among the rolling green hills of Golden Valley. She has been enjoying the quaint, rustic feel of her neighborhood since she moved in on September 3, 2005.

What sets Kelly apart as a great citizen is her strength, perseverance, and dedication. All of these qualities helped Kelly to become the first-ever black belt at the Millsberry Dojo! "I'm so proud of Kelly," sensei Siobhan Hidaka told the Gazette. "Not only has she demonstrated the balance of mind and body necessary to become a great martial artist, she's also shown that she's open to learning new things and takes great pride in doing things correctly the first time, which requires a lot of attention to detail. It was truly a pleasure to teach Kelly the art of Shinbu Ryu!"

All of this praise might have gone to Kelly's head, but she is so modest that it hasn't affected her at all. In spite of her black belt and trophy-lined walls, Kelly is still as friendly and humble as ever. After all, Kelly likes to work toward special achievements for herself, not to impress anyone else.

In addition to martial arts, Kelly has many other interests. Her tastes are very flexible, ranging from magic tricks to mariachi music. You're just as likely to spot her flying through the air with her orange, yellow, and gold parachute while sky-diving as you are to see her playing a simple game with her friends at Peabody Park.

When Kelly wants to relax, she usually heads for the pool, where she cools off and lets her mind drift while swimming laps or simply floating on her back. Kelly also enjoys hanging out at her best friend's house and spending the afternoon talking and dancing to her favorite reggae and polka CDs.

Thanks for being a fine citizen, Kelly, and congratulations on being named Millsberry's citizen of the week.
