With only a few weeks left until it's time to go back to school, we suggest that you take out a map of the United States, close your eyes, and point. Then open your eyes to see where your finger landed! Maybe Lake Superior? Or Denver, Colorado? Editor-in-Chief
Well, now that the Grow Good Farms Cross-Country Road Trip has come to an end, it's not as easy to check out a new locale with just a few swift clicks.
Nevertheless, it's still a good time to celebrate American Adventures Month! This August holiday celebrates vacationing in the Americas. So, whether it's a luxurious trip or just camping out, experience your own country and unlock new worlds for you and your family!
So, do you already have a trip coming up? If not, it can fun be to research a place you'd like to visit one day and start making a list of your top five dream destinations.
Plus, don't forget: there's still lots to do in and around Millsberry, whether on your own or with family and friends. To start, take a look at the Colhurst Tunnels. After all, who doesn't like digging for treasure? And at the Colhurst Tunnels, everyone can give it a shot! So, as long as you have healthy stats--and an entry ticket, and a shovel--you can dig around and look for valuable artifacts all day!
Another great idea: camping out in a friend's backyard! Just be sure to equip yourself with some good ghost stories; the makings for s'mores; and, of course, good friends. After all, camping in your own backyard can be a little adventure!
A third idea for easy exploration is to go on an "animal hunt" with friends. To start, just head to the park to look for signs of animal life. There's almost no limit to what you might find--including spider webs, feathers, chewed leaves, tracks in the dirt, burrows in the ground, snails, frogs, etc. Plus, you can start a nature collection by collecting interesting artifacts you find along the way. This includes items like rocks, shells, twigs from a bird's nest, or whatever comes in your path that catches your eye. Just remember to be careful and bring a parent or a guardian to accompany you on your adventure.
Finally, last but not least, try making your own rainbow. Yes, it's possible! You can make your own rainbow with a glass of water and a piece of white paper. Just find a sunny spot, inside or out--then hold a glass of water above a piece of white paper--then watch as the sunlight passes through, bending to form a rainbow on the paper! Then try different angles and a bigger glass or vase to see what happens!
Happy adventures to you!
