Give a Pet a Palace!

Thursday, January 28, 2010 — A few weeks ago, pet owners and pet lovers celebrated "Dress Up Your Pet Day"—a day when owners, you guessed it, dress up their pets. Some pets really enjoy this holiday, but others...not so much: like goldfish, who probably have a tough time getting "dressed" any which way.

In honor of this year's holiday, Millsberry has revamped its beloved pet store, The Pet Palace. It has a bigger look and feel now, and there's also a whole new section where you can buy supplies to design a dream home for your adopted pet! Whether you adopt a puppy or a peacock, you can find the perfect roof to put over its head, browse different kinds of walls to keep it cozy, comb through flowers and fun toys for its yard, and much more! Plus, you can enter your creation in the Pet Palace Design Contest. Simply put your pet's home together, then send Rosie and Frank Ruiz a postcard by February 17th to come check it out. Winners will receive a grand prize! And everyone who participates is guaranteed something snazzy in return!

When asked about the store's cool improvements, one citizen noted, "Things haven't been the same since the Pet Palace has been redesigned! Peacocks and potbellied pigs have been spotted around town, crossing the street with their proud new owners! It's wonderful to see so many animals getting adopted and being given wonderful new homes."

A citizen exclaimed, "I'm planning to make a straw home for my pet ferret—with a big red carpet in front. And I'm thinking about giving it four different roofs. I mean, why not? He deserves it! And the best part is that I can build my pet's home from the comfort of my home!"

So there you have it: now's your chance to do something good and creative. There are many pets still waiting to be adopted—and waiting to have their new home constructed any way you'd like. So, whether you want your iguana to live in an igloo, or your hamster to live in a hut of hay—or glass or brick or pillow—you'll have tons of fun just putting it together! Just don't forget to submit your design!
