YARD SALE FEVER!

Thursday, May 3, 2007 — May is upon us, and the weather in Millsberry is truly ideal. Abundant sunlight and a light breeze have brought citizens out of their houses and onto the streets. Every weekend there are picnics in Peabody Park, and Lakeview's scenic paths at dusk are full of people and their dogs. What a great feeling it is to be outdoors after that cold winter!Editor-in-Chief
I've noticed lots of people adding items to their yard sales due to the increase of foot traffic on every street. Some citizens are in full spring cleaning mode, while others are in a buying frenzy! I hit the streets myself to find out what the shopping scene is like, and what items are selling fast.
On Porcupine Trail in Golden Valley, I found plenty of citizens selling items they'd uncovered in the Colhurst Tunnels. Imagine, a sundial for only 2000 Millsbucks! I saw an antique soda bottle in the same sale for only 100 Millsbucks, and happily purchased it.
Brandon Genet of nearby Settler Way noticed me and struck up a conversation. He said he had been on the hunt all week for a suit of armor, a mysterious gift from Red Lion Manor this past Halloween. Why? "I want to set it up in the corner of my trophy room, like a guard," he said.
Next, I hit the streets of Lakeview, where one block of Red Talon Way boasted five different sales. River Zelwig's sale boasted all sorts of furniture—rugs, tables, chairs, and beds. I asked her why she was letting go of so much great stuff.
"I bought this table with umbrella on a whim a while ago, but the colors didn't fit with the rest of the furniture in my yard—so it's just been sitting in my basement. I want someone else to put it to good use, so I'm selling it for half of what I bought it for." A few interested buyers overheard our conversation and ventured over.
I asked her how business had been that day. "Great," River replied. "I've already sold five beanbag chairs!"
So, I'd say it's a good time to be a yard sale shopper. In just one day I picked up these great finds: an antique soda bottle, a shiny pair of combat boots, a gorgeous peasant dress, and a purple monster clock. What will you find?
