BUNDLE UP WITH STYLE: WINTER FASHION APPROACHES

Thursday, November 1, 2007 — As those cold north winds begin to blow in, the citizens of Millsberry are wondering what to wear.

Once again, it's time to break out your winter garments and layer up. Many are faced with the familiar problem that presents itself this time of year: How do I remain stylish in all of my bulky winter clothes?

Does fashion hibernate during the winter months? Are you forced to sacrifice personal style for the sake of warmth and comfort?

Some would argue yes, but, in fact, it's quite the opposite. The more articles of clothing you wear, the more chances you'll have to add to the particular look and style you're cultivating. The odds of looking fabulous are really in your favor as winter approaches.

We enlisted the help of Loretta Rivers, resident fashion guru and owner of the
Clothing Store, for some tips on how to keep it classy during those bitter winter months.

"The first thing you want to keep in mind about winter fashion is that layers are key. Not only do they keep you warm, but they're also an opportunity to mix and match different styles", said Loretta, as she thumbed through a rack of winter clothes.

"Sometimes it's good to even wear more than one coat. Leather is really in right now. It also happens to be very warm as well, so that's an added bonus. The other great thing about winter is it gives you opportunities to combine all sorts of accessories."

Loretta then moves to a table presenting an assortment of scarves hats and vests.

"Scarves are another way to really give your outfit that extra flare that's missing. Of course, with any scarf, you have to find the way to wear it that best suits you and your personal style. There are many different ways to tie a scarf, so that just adds to the different combinations you can create. Scarves are also really great when you can match them with a hat. You either want to pick a hat that's the same color, or a complimentary color to your scarf."

Loretta quickly turns and sashays over to the Winter Tops Collection.

"Five years ago, Turtlenecks were out, but now they're in. They're the new sweater vest, and now sweater vests are out. That's fashion for you though. It's always changing. I love it. Now, lets not forget footwear. Footwear can make or break an outfit."

As she says this, she scurries over to the shoe department.

"You have to make sure you have a solid pair of boots for winter. Something that looks great, but also something that you're going to be able to wear in the snow and bad weather."

Thanks to Loretta, feeling warm and looking great during winter are back in style.
