Meet Catgirl, our Citizen of the Week!
She lives at 1892 West Street, in a gated community called Oakdale Estates, which lies in the northwest corner of Metro Park. Unlike most of the homes in Metro Park, Catgirl's house has a huge backyard, with a massive oak tree in it. Two summers ago, Catgirl and her friends built a treehouse within the oak's branches. Ever since, it's been their favorite place to hang out and spend time together.
As a very creative person, Catgirl has a great love of painting, which she happens to share with her friends. In fact, almost as soon as it was completed, Catgirl and her pals began decorating the treehouse's walls with their very own artwork. Soon, however, they had more paintings than they had space, which prompted them to begin using their treehouse as a part-time art gallery. Every couple of months, they'll gather the paintings they want to sell, then hold an exhibit inside the treehouse. In the past, they've used the money from their sales to buy art supplies, repair the treehouse, and add things like a stereo, some furniture, and a few potted plants.
In addition to painting, Catgirl is also a huge fan of listening to music. More often than not, the sound of her CDs can be heard blaring from the treehouse's stereo. Though she generally prefers listening to country and classic rock, Catgirl has found that the hypnotic rhythms of world music are an ideal inspiration for when she's painting.
